Position Summary

The Buyer 3 is a senior-level procurement professional responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and services critical to Eastek's manufacturing operations. This role requires strong supplier management, cost analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement aligned with production schedules and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure raw materials, electronic components, mechanical parts, and indirect goods and services to support manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, sales quote management, and local manufacturing site purchasing teams to ensure materials meet technical specifications, cost targets, and delivery timelines.
  • Negotiate purchase agreements with key suppliers to continuously reduce costs, shorten lead times, and improve service levels.
  • Evaluate supplier quotes for accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Prepare and issue RFQ's, analyze bids, and award contracts for high-impact purchases.
  • Resolve issues related to defective or non-conforming materials in coordination with quality control and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier data, and ERP system updates.
  • Monitor market trends, lead times, and supply ricks to proactively manage inventory and mitigate disruptions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers and support staff.
  • Collaborate with inventory control teams to monitor stock levels, lead times, reorder points, and usage trends to optimize inventory turns.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing/sourcing experience in electronics manufacturing or a similar high-mix, low-to-medium volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics components, PCB's, mechanical assemblies, and contract manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with international sourcing and supplier development, particularly in Asia.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or other quality management systems.
  • APICS or ISM certification is a plus.
