Job Title: On-Site Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization Specialist

Location: New York City, NY (On-Site)

Job Type: Full-Time

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented On-Site Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy services team in New York City. This role focuses on processing prior authorizations, navigating insurance adjudication, and supporting patients with medication access. You'll work directly with healthcare providers, pharmacists, and insurance companies while playing a key role in delivering high-quality, coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with insurance companies to secure prior authorization approvals for prescription medications.
  • Review prescriptions with physicians' offices to gather clinical documentation and ensure accurate submissions.
  • Navigate insurance adjudication processes to resolve coverage issues and streamline patient access.
  • Use electronic medical records (EMRs), internal databases, and email to document prior authorization statuses, patient inquiries, and financial assistance efforts.
  • Communicate directly with patients both in person and by phone to support medication adherence and insurance claim management.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of patient interactions, medication history, and insurance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy liaisons, and clinical teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
  • Stay current with pharmacy benefit changes, coverage guidelines, and prior authorization protocols.

Required Qualifications:

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA
  • Minimum of 1 year of prior authorization experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
  • Strong understanding of insurance adjudication and pharmacy benefit plans
  • Experience working with EMRs and pharmacy database systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and providers
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work on-site in New York City Monday–Friday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with CoverMyMeds, SureScripts, or other PA platforms
  • Experience in a hospital, specialty, or outpatient pharmacy setting
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
