Job Description :

Our client, a leader in the power sports industry, is seeking an experienced Color Mastering Specialist for a 12+ month contract assignment in Medina, MN. This role is hybrid with flexibility to work from home on Fridays.

Job Summary:

The Color Mastering Specialist is responsible for ensuring visual color accuracy and material consistency across all A-surface materials. This role serves as the bridge between design intent and manufacturing reality validating color, gloss, texture, and finishes across multiple materials (paint, plastics, decals, fabrics, metals, vinyl) and suppliers. This individual will establish and manage standards, processes, and approvals for production-ready color matching, supporting premium product execution and brand consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the color mastering process from design hand-off to production sign-off for all A-surface materials.
  • Lead physical sample reviews and visual alignment sessions across paint, plastics, graphics, and soft materials.
  • Create and maintain master standards for each material (paint chips, texture plaques, vinyl samples, etc.).
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve color matching issues quickly and accurately.
  • Maintain a physical library of approved finishes for cross-functional reference.
  • Collaborate closely with CMF designers, engineering, quality, and suppliers to ensure alignment.
  • Support new color technology development and finish testing in coordination with R&D.
  • Support CMFG with release documentation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Materials Engineering, Color Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years in color development, material specification, or color quality control (automotive, powersports, consumer products preferred).
  • Strong eye for color, finish, texture able to evaluate under various lighting conditions.
  • Experience working with paints, plastics, decals, and soft goods from a visual quality perspective.
  • Familiar with color matching processes, master panel development, and manufacturing tolerances.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; comfortable leading reviews and negotiations with suppliers.
  • Familiarity with visual evaluation tools (light booths, gloss meters, spectrophotometers a plus).

Pay Rate $38.14 - $40.14 per hour
