Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – Float Position
Location: Burleson, TX 76028
Pay Rate: $35–$40/hr + mileage reimbursement (only when traveling from base location)
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and certified MLS/MLT to support our STAT Hematology and Chemistry labs across multiple sites in the DFW area. This is a float position based in Burleson, TX, providing coverage for call-outs and PTO.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CT
Float Coverage Area:
This role requires travel to five lab locations across the Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) area, including:
- Arlington, TX
- Weatherford, TX
- Burleson, TX (base location)
- Granbury, TX
- Mesquite, TX
Candidates must live in the DFW area and be able to travel easily between these sites. Mileage reimbursement is only provided when traveling from the base location in Burleson. Experience in both Hematology and Chemistry is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow lab procedures for specimen handling, testing, analysis, and reporting.Maintain accurate records for all testing performed, including proficiency samples.Operate lab equipment and perform testing using approved methods (per SOP).Review and release results in a timely and accurate manner.Comply with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and internal safety regulations.Adhere to quality control protocols; document calibrations, maintenance, and corrective actions.Troubleshoot and report issues that affect test performance.Report STAT or critical results promptly according to department policy.Keep testing area clean and organized; manage reagent inventory and documentation.Stay current with procedural updates and training.Attend department meetings and required safety training.Assist with regulatory inspections if needed.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Required Qualifications:
- MLS or MLT certification (ASCP or AMT)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical lab experience in high-complexity testing (preferred)
- Proficiency in both Hematology and Chemistry testing required
- Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and lab best practices
- Proficient in using multiple lab computer systems
- Strong multitasking, organization, and communication skills
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism
Education:
- BS in Medical Technology preferred
- BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or
- Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- Must meet requirements outlined in 42 CFR 493.1433 (as of March 14, 1990)
- Foreign-educated candidates: detailed credential evaluation from IERF required
- U.S.-educated candidates: must provide official transcripts
