Job Title: Senior Construction Estimator – Commercial & Residential Company: Monarch Construction Location: 31731 Northwestern Hwy, Ste. 170W, Farmington HIlls MI 48334 Job Type: Full-Time Industry: Residential and Commercial Construction Experience Level: Mid-to-Senior Level (5+ years required) Salary: Competitive (Commensurate with experience) + Performance Bonuses Education: Preferred – Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field Required – High school diploma or GED with significant experience Certifications (Preferred): LEED Certification Certified Professional Estimator (ASPE) OSHA 30 Job Description Monarch Construction is seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our team. This position plays a critical role in accurately estimating costs for both residential and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of experience working with a reputable general contractor or construction firm, demonstrating skill in cost estimation, blueprint reading, and subcontractor coordination. Responsibilities Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for residential and commercial projects ($250K–$15M+). Perform material takeoffs, scope development, and unit pricing. Analyze architectural and engineering plans to assess project requirements and risks. Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier bids; perform bid leveling. Collaborate with project managers, designers, and leadership on budgets and proposals. Maintain historical cost data and update pricing databases regularly. Identify cost-saving opportunities and participate in value engineering efforts. Support preconstruction efforts, RFP submissions, and client meetings as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years' experience as a construction estimator (commercial and residential). Proficient with estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, Buildertrend, or similar tools. In-depth understanding of construction drawings, building codes, and means and methods. Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and deliver accurate bids under pressure. Strong communication and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
