Performs intermediate semiskilled work diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and heavy equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Landfill/ Transfer Supervisor. Job Duties Performs preventive maintenance and repair on a variety of vehicles and equipment including automobiles, tractors, heavy construction equipment and landscaping equipment. Performs motor repair and replacement work; performs repair work on both gas and diesel engines. Fabricates replacement parts and metal for repairs to vehicles and equipment. Maintains cleanliness of shop area, tools and equipment and exterior building perimeter. Performs inspections; maintains records of service and repairs. Repairs hydraulic systems on heavy duty equipment. Assists with storm cleanup. Performs other assigned duties.
