Malone Healthcare - Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Weirton, West Virginia.

- # of Beds: 48 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-7 on days, 1:6-8 on nights - Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS, RN License - Can take PCT class to become PCT, or can have CNA - Common diagnoses/Types of patients Pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, Alcohol w/d, falls/weakness - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have 1 year of experience - Will accept first time travelers - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: yes with exceptions - No cardiac drip titration - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: heparin, bumex, lasix - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? 2 on Day shift charge, will take a patient assignment - At night when 2 scheduled. If only 1 charge, they do not take an assignment. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Ratio 1:10-12 on average, but could be higher. - Job Duties: Vitals, BGM's, EKG's, apply heart monitor, bathing, feeding, toileting, turning and positioning - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? RT will administer breathing treatments, inhalers, ABGs, and manage Resp equipment such as Bipap, Cpap, & high flow O2, RNs typically not required to do anything except monitor, RT performs checks. - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Monitor tech is located on level 5, reads and monitors the teles of all patients on a telemetry and calls if there is a problem with the monitor. Nurses not expected to be able to read and interpret tele - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Shifts: RNs 7-7, CNAs 6-6 No self- scheduling or block scheduling.Schedule is made out by the manager who will work with staff around any requested time off (RTO). Travelers are expected to be flexible and help to fill gaps in permanent schedule. - Weekend Requirement Every other weekend - Holiday Requirement: May be asked to go in the Holiday Rotation. - Holidays go by rotation for RN's. PCT's do not have scheduled holidays, they work if it lands on their scheduled day. - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: No - Floating Requirements Floating and shift pull rotation. May be floated to any other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower acuity pts on the floor - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: RN: Navy blue PCT: Ceil Blue Secretaries: Black and pink - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1 day Educator/Computer System, 1 day with a preceptor
