Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Maintenance GeneralDate Posted: 7/23/2025Location: Facilities Maintenance & Capital ProjectsPOSITION ANNOUNCEMENT July 23, 2025 POSITION: Facilities Trade Technician (Helper Level) LOCATION: Facilities & Maintenance JOB SUMMARY: The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Facilities Trade Technician (Helper Level) to support the maintenance, repair, and enhancement of district facilities to ensure they are safe, operational, and conducive to teaching and learning. This role performs a variety of tasks in general maintenance and trade assistance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical support. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED preferred; Two (2) years' experience in general maintenance, trades, or facilities operations; Working knowledge of tools, equipment, and methods used in one or more of the following trades: painting, carpentry, pressure washing, door hardware, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical; Must have valid Georgia Driver's license, and maintain a good driving record; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals; Physically capableof lifting up to 80 lbs, climbing ladders, working inconfined spaces, and performing manual labor for extended periods; Demonstrated abilityto work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: General Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, basic carpentry, pressure washing, and door hardware repairs; Assist skilled technicians with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and roofing repairs; Support maintenance and upkeep of building exteriors, sidewalks, parking lots, and roof debris removal. Tools, Equipment & Safety: Operate and maintain hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner; Follow district safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times; Keep tools and equipment organized, clean, and in good working order. Technical Support & Documentation: Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and specifications as required; Accurately document completed work, materials used, and hours worked using district maintenance software or assigned forms. Professionalism & Collaboration: Maintain a professional appearance and represent the Facilities Department with integrity; Exhibit strong interpersonal skills when interacting with school staff, students, contractors, and community members; Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to complete tasks efficiently. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Services Supervisor or department leadership. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and lift heavy objects. May work in indoor or outdoor environments, sometimes in inclement weather or at elevated heights. REPORTS TO: TechnicalServices Supervisor SALARY RANGE: 12 Month Employee.
