Venture5, founded by John Gannon, delivers ~5 million impressions annually across our media channels and reaches 50,000 founders, funders, and operators each month through our weekly newsletters, virtual and live events, research reports, and the largest and longest running venture capital job board in the world. Our 300+ sponsors and advertisers have included industry leaders like AWS, Zendesk, Fidelity, Mercury, The Information, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Samsung.
We're just off a recently launch where we reintroduced Venture5 as an ecosystem that includes Venture5 Media (the audience we've built over the last 17 years), Venture5 Catalyst (supporting platform for VC emerging managers) and Venture5 Studio (building and launching new companies and products for the venture ecosystem).
Why we're hiring for this role
After nearly doubling revenue in 2024, we're building momentum to do it again in 2025. We need a pace setter—a strategic leader and true partner who can drive revenue growth strategy as well as execution. We also expect this individual to leverage their sales and business development skills to contribute to the upcoming launch of our venture investment platform.
Drive Revenue (80% of role): • Own direct sales efforts, hands-on, end-to-end with new advertisers and sponsors while expanding existing relationships for maximum long-term value • Act as a trusted strategic partner to clients, developing creative solutions that deliver measurable results • Craft custom activations and innovative campaigns that go beyond traditional advertising, working cross-functionally to ensure success
Launch Investment Platform (20% of role): • Help establish and grow our venture capital initiatives, including launching syndicates and fund investing • Contribute to deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio support activities
Maintain Active Ecosystem Presence: • Establish and maintain a strong in-person presence at key startup and VC events–including hosting your own–in SF or NYC (where our founder is based)
Strategic Leadership: • Operate as a pace setter, driving initiatives with minimal oversight while collaborating closely with our founder • Contribute to Venture5 Media's growth by improving processes, sharing insights, and building scalable systems • Drive our future direction
Skills and Qualifications
Required: • Proven, existing network within B2B companies that sell or market to startups or VCs • Demonstrable success in B2B sales roles with a track record of hitting or exceeding quotas • Data-driven approach with strong CRM skills and comfort with automation tools such as Clay and Apollo • Deep understanding of the startup and VC landscape with demonstrated networking ability • Excellent collaboration skills and strategic thinking capabilities
Bonus Points: • Experience in B2B media and sponsorships sales (digital and events) • Prior experience as a founder (VC backed or otherwise)
️ What Your 1st Year Will Look Like
First 30 Days: Learn our audience, media products, and growth strategy, and start selling
First 60 Days: Own and drive our Q4 revenue achievement
First 90 Days: Work with our founder to plan for 2026 across all aspects of Venture5, continue driving achievement of revenue goals
End of Year 1: • Achieve revenue growth targets and help double company revenue • Successfully contribute to Venture5 Capital launch and early operations • Establish yourself as a long term partner with our founder and continue to grow the Venture5 ecosystem
