This position will support the facility and works under the direction of the Treatment plant manager and the Water Treatment Crew Chief. The Water Treatment Equipment Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of critical water treatment equipment, including chlorination, fluoridation, and corrosion control systems. By ensuring that this equipment operates effectively and consistently, the Technician will directly contribute to the reliability of the City's water supply, minimizing downtime and the risk of service disruptions. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change as conditions require.Experience One (1) year of education in an approved water works training program, and two (2) years of water treatment equipment installation and maintenance (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).License, Certification and Other Requirements* Current State of Washington driver's license.* Washington State Certification as Water Distribution Manager II within 12 months of appointment.Work Environment/Physical Demands:* Occasionally required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.* Required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods or work in confined spaces.* Frequently required to handle or work around toxic/hazardous substances. In case of emergency, must wear and use a breathing apparatus.* Occasionally required to work at heights up to 100 feet above ground level.* Required to work outdoors in all types of weather.* Frequently required to lift objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.* Annual fit test and respiratory exam are mandatoryDesired Qualifications:* Experience with SCADA computer systems and Microsoft Office programs.* Intermediate knowledge of water treatment equipment i.e., pumps, hoses, chlorine analyzers etc.* Skilled handyman, with knowledge of the electrical, plumbing, and pipe fitting trades.* Experience in a public water distribution system and prior experience in the Water Treatment Industry.* Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to clearly share information with leadership, staff and stakeholders.* Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with people from diverse professional, cultural backgrounds.* The ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.* Being responsive to operational and emergency needs of the plant and the ability to work under pressure.* Higher-level WDM/WTPO certifications and Cross Connection certifications.How to Apply: Please fully complete an online application.
