The Accounting Specialist performs a wide range of semi-complex paraprofessional accounting duties, including the preparation, reconciliation and maintenance of various financial records to fulfill reporting requirements and ensure compliance with accepted accounting principles and standards. Experience with 10-key, data entry, AR billings, AP processing, account reconciliations, input/post general journal entries, and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software is preferred. The ideal candidate works well independently as well as in a group setting, is able to multi-task efficiently, and is a quick learner. - Reconciles, examines, balances and adjusts accounting records;
- Maintains various financial ledgers, registers and journals;
- Enters data into spreadsheets, worksheets, ledgers;
- Assists with month end close and annual financial audit;
- Prepares periodic reports;
- Requires regular and punctual employee presence;
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other staff;
- Relates and interacts with Library staff, external partners and agencies, and customers with mutual respect;
- Acts as a representative of Sacramento Public Library to the public;
- Attends and leads meetings and events; participates in various teams when needed; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
An Associate's Degree in Accounting or a related filed, and at least two (2) years experience performing accounting and record keeping functions or A high school diploma (or GED equivalent) and at least four (4) years experience performing accounting and record keeping functions Experience in a public agency is highly preferred Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: A valid Class C California Drivers license may be required at time of appointment.
