Position Overview: Starr Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for its OB/GYN Unit on the day shift. This role is crucial in providing high-quality care to patients during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery, while supporting the broader needs of women's health.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the care of patients throughout labor and delivery
- Perform assessments and document maternal and fetal status
- Provide patient and family education related to childbirth and postpartum care
- Administer medications and support pain management protocols
- Assist physicians during labor and surgical procedures such as cesarean sections
- Respond to obstetric emergencies with swift, clinically sound action
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and uphold confidentiality standards
- Coordinate care with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other clinical staff
- Follow all hospital safety, infection control, and HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications:
- Valid and active RN license in the state of Tennessee or compact state eligibility
- Minimum of 2 +years' experience in labor and delivery or OB/GYN nursing preferred
- BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS certification strongly preferred
- Proficient in fetal monitoring and obstetric assessments
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to patient-centered care
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide comfort during high-stress moments
