Job Title: Criminal Records Data Specialist

Location: Downtown Indianapolis, IN

Job Type: 3 month contract with potential for conversion.

Job Description:

This position supports offender registration efforts by collecting and organizing legal records from courts across various jurisdictions. The role involves researching court cases, gathering documentation, entering accurate data into a tracking system, and working closely with law enforcement and government agencies. This position includes both independent tasks and collaboration with team members to ensure timely and accurate data management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Locates and collects court records and sentencing documentation across local, state, federal, and military jurisdictions.
  • Reviews and interprets legal documents for relevance and completeness.
  • Enters accurate and detailed data into a designated tracking system.
  • Communicates with various agencies, including law enforcement and government offices, to gather necessary records or clarify information.
  • Ensures compliance with offender registration requirements by verifying data accuracy.
  • Performs related administrative or research duties as assigned.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure consistent data standards and workflow practices.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Relevant legal research or criminal justice experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Demonstrated experience with data collection and entry in a professional environment.
  • Knowledge of legal codes, criminal justice procedures, and court documentation.
  • Comfortable reviewing and interpreting legal terminology and documents.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, complex tasks.
