Job Description

Location: New York, NY

GQ seeks an Associate Commerce Director to lead the brand's commerce-focused GQ Recommends team, specializing in product recommendations and service-driven content. The role involves collaborating with GQ's Global Commerce Director and a team of writers and editors to develop daily stories, manage the editorial calendar, and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate has experience managing teams, planning digital content, and a strong knowledge of fashion and e-commerce.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the GQ Recommends team of writers, editors, and freelancers.
  • Plan and execute the weekly, seasonal, and special content calendars.
  • Assign, edit, and publish daily commerce content, contributing as needed.
  • Build and maintain retail and brand partnerships, supporting revenue goals.
  • Analyze purchasing data and trends to inform editorial decisions and KPIs.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure editorial excellence across platforms.
  • Create special shopping features for key events and trends.
  • Coordinate with audience development for content distribution and growth opportunities.
  • Continuously seek innovative ways to present stories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications
  • 6+ years managing and editing staff and freelancers in digital media, with focus on fashion and style; experience in service journalism and product recommendations preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Enthusiasm for style and menswear.
  • Familiarity with affiliate programs like Skimlinks and Amazon.
  • Experience working with editorial, advertising, engineering, video, and design teams.
  • Proficiency in web analytics.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Interest in current events, pop culture, sports, and men's style topics.

This position is based at 1 World Trade Center, New York, NY.

Salary range: $103K - $128K, based on skills, experience, and education. Additional benefits and discretionary bonuses may apply.
