The City of Deer Park is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Switchboard Operator. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $12.67 and is based in Deer Park, TX.
The main responsibilities include operating the main switchboard, answering incoming calls, greeting and directing visitors, and performing various clerical tasks. The role requires supervision from the City Secretary and does not involve any supervisory duties.
To qualify for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, one-year experience on a multi-line main switchboard, and one-year experience with data processing equipment. Proficiency in typing at 55 words per minute, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Adobe, and Excel, and bilingual skills in Spanish are also required. The ideal candidate should possess interpersonal skills, including being outgoing, friendly, and courteous.
The job involves constant speaking, seeing, handling, reaching, twisting, lifting, carrying, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, stretching, and hearing. The work environment can be noisy and subject to varying temperatures, dust, and direct sunlight.
