HotFoot Recruiters had partner up with a well-established consulting engineering firm specializing in the design of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and technology systems. With decades of experience, the company delivers reliable and energy-efficient design solutions for various building types, including educational, medical, justice, mission-critical, aviation, and governmental facilities. Job Title: Field Observer Type: Direct Hire; On Site Hours: Full-Time / 9 hours on M-Thur, Half Day Fridays! Pay: 70K-105K DOE Responsibilities:

  • Conduct construction administration by overseeing contractor installations for compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ICC, BICSI).
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting construction progress, deficiencies, and required corrections.
  • Coordinate pre-construction and construction meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Act as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for electrical and mechanical projects as contracted.
  • Assess existing building conditions, identify repair or replacement needs, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Perform special inspections and oversee contractor performance for specific tasks, including fire and smoke damper testing, duct smoke detector certification, and electrical grounding verification.
  • Review and approve contractor pay applications and process AIA documentation.
  • Conduct quality control checks for project design review prior to final documentation release.
  • Gather photos and documentation during pre-design field investigations and system assessments.
  • Review closeout documentation, such as as-built drawings and O&M manuals, and identify any missing or incorrect items.
Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector and/or Commercial Mechanical Inspector (or willingness to obtain post-employment).
  • Working knowledge of construction standards for mechanical, plumbing, and/or electrical systems.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), including graphical interfaces and installation practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for client interactions and detailed reporting.
  • Ability to work well within a team structure and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally while working with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to walk construction sites, climb ladders, and navigate active work environments.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check for security clearance requirements.
Highly Preferred Skill:
  • Extensive experience in at least one field of construction related to building mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam and Procore software.
  • Experience creating complex spreadsheets for project commissioning and functional testing.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes for HVAC, power distribution, access control, surveillance, and lighting systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system malfunctions and propose coordinated solutions.
  • Certification as a Commissioning Services Provider.
