You'll be the go-to person coordinating with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure our projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget - while meeting the highest quality standards.This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community through infrastructure, public spaces, and essential services.Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Guide: Supervise contractors and crews on daily tasks. Offer support and direction to help them succeed - and step in when complex issues arise.
- Ensure Quality & Safety: Monitor work sites for safety compliance, review construction plans, and make sure everything meets regulatory standards.
- Project Planning: From creating budgets and timelines to reviewing designs and blueprints, you'll keep every aspect of the project organized and efficient.
- Problem Solver: Work closely with division leadership to troubleshoot issues, provide recommendations, and ensure alignment with departmental goals.
- Contract & Vendor Management: Help prepare RFPs, evaluate bids, and work with vendors and contractors through the full project lifecycle.
- Community Engagement: Communicate with residents, stakeholders, and community groups about upcoming projects. Represent the division in public outreach and education efforts.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Coordinate with utility companies, state agencies, engineers, and others to keep projects moving smoothly.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare executive summaries, inspection reports, and presentations for leadership and elected officials.
- Stay Ahead of the Curve: Keep up with tech and construction trends. Recommend new tools, systems, or processes to improve outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on project management experience
- If you don't have a degree, we'll consider candidates with 9+ years of relevant experience
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Tech-savvy, with experience in managing technical systems or IT-integrated projects
- Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- PMP Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
Nice to Have
- Experience with public sector or municipal construction projects
- Knowledge of Florida permitting processes and code requirements
- Experience leading public outreach or community engagement activities
- Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, or project management software tools
