Position Overview:United Health Services is seeking an experienced Med Surg Surgical Stepdown RN for a night shift travel assignment. This unit requires critical care-level experience, as it bridges general med-surg with intensive care responsibilities. Candidates must be proficient in complex patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Unit Details:

• Unit: MT4 Surgical Stepdown
• Patient Acuity: High – critical care level
• EMR: Epic (preferred experience)
• Certifications Required: AHA BLS & ACLS
• Shift: Nights | 3x12s

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Coordinate and implement nursing interventions with accuracy and timeliness
• Administer medications safely per hospital policies
• Educate patients and families on condition management and health promotion
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes
• Uphold NYS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope & Standards, and UHS policies
• Engage in shared governance, evidence-based practice, and peer review

Requirements:

• Current NY RN License – must be active at submission
• 2+ years of Med Surg Stepdown or ICU-level experience
• Epic experience preferred
• Must include skills checklist, valid license/cert copies, and updated resume in submission
• Excellent critical thinking, time management, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Professional certification in a related specialty
• Additional certifications (e.g., PALS, TNCC) a plus
