Base pay range

$81,032.00/yr - $104,410.00/yr

The New York State Unified Court System Appellate Division 2nd Department is recruiting for one (1) position in the Appellate Court Clerk Series. The position will be filled in one of the following titles and will be dependent on the experience and qualifications of the applicants selected: Principal Appellate Court Clerk, Associate Appellate Court Clerk, or Senior Court Clerk.

Appellate Division Family Court Case Managers are responsible for actively managing all appeals from orders of the Family Court, as well as appeals from any other orders in which the welfare, custody or parental access to children is at issue.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting and reviewing orders.
• Processing applications.
• Reviewing briefs for compliance with the Court's Rules of Practice.
• Tracking appeals to reach timely dispositions.
• Ensuring that the complete record on appeal is obtained.
• Acting as a liaison with the Clerks of Family and Supreme Court.
• Answer questions from members of the public and to assist counsel and self-represented litigants through the appellate process.
• Frequently interacts with the Clerk of the Court and other members of the court's staff and must have the ability to handle sensitive issues in a confidential manner.

Qualifications:

Principal Appellate Court Clerk: One year of service in the Associate Appellate Court Clerk title; or One year of service in the Associate Court Clerk title; or An equivalent combination of education and experience. Base Salary: $99,490 + $4,920 Location Pay

Associate Appellate Court Clerk: One year of service in the Senior Appellate Court Clerk title; or One year of permanent, competitive class service in the Senior Court Clerk title; or An equivalent combination of education and experience. Base Salary: $84,659 + $4,920 Location Pay

Senior Appellate Court Clerk: Two years of service in any title in the Unified Court System; or A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or An equivalent combination of education and experience. Base Salary: $76,112 + $4,920 Location Pay
