Pharmacist - Inpatient (Day Shift, 5x8.0) Location: Select Medical Contract Duration: 13 weeks (91 days) Guaranteed Hours: 40/week
Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacist is responsible for comprehensive pharmaceutical care including medication preparation, dispensing, clinical monitoring, and patient counseling. This role supports patient safety and regulatory compliance, and contributes to Select Medical's Core Values and 10 Foot Circle of Safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispensing & Preparation:
- Prepare and label sterile and non-sterile medications.
- Manage STAT and routine medication orders.
- Ensure appropriate labeling and expiration dating.
- Inventory & Compliance:
- Maintain adequate drug supply; perform procurement and annual inventory.
- Remove and return expired meds; document drug recalls.
- Ensure availability of antidotes and emergency drugs.
- Documentation & Billing:
- Accurately record all dispensed meds and patient charges.
- Maintain pharmacy records per federal/state laws.
- Clinical Services:
- Monitor therapies for efficacy, interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
- Participate in Antimicrobial Stewardship, pharmacokinetics, and anticoagulation management.
- Provide discharge counseling and medication reconciliation.
- Safety & Quality:
- Adhere to all safety protocols: infectious control, hazardous material handling, fall prevention.
- Conduct monthly inspections of medication storage and patient care areas.
- Support hospital accreditation and quality improvement efforts.
- Education & Training:
- Participate in onboarding, staff development, and interdepartmental education.
- Serve as a clinical resource to staff and physicians.
Requirements:
- Licensure: Current State Pharmacist License
- Certifications: BLS
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient hospital experience
- System Experience: EPIC (required
