Structural Engineer
Industrial Machinery Manufacturing
About the position
The Structural Engineer position is a critical role focused on the design and engineering of custom steel structures specifically tailored for agricultural applications. This position requires a strong collaboration with the sales team to ensure that the engineered structures meet the required specifications and standards. The engineer will be responsible for coordinating the design process with a designer or drafter, ensuring that the final designs are accurate and ready for manufacturing. This role is essential in ensuring that the structures not only meet the aesthetic and functional requirements but also adhere to safety and regulatory standards. In this position, the engineer will engage in various tasks including calculating loads and stresses on structures, investigating the strength of structural members and beams, and determining the overall safety and functionality of the structures. The engineer will also assist in troubleshooting any manufacturing issues that arise, as well as addressing real-world application challenges related to the steel structures. Attention to detail is paramount, as the engineer will be responsible for checking their work for accuracy in spelling, drawing format, organization, dimensions, tolerances, and compliance with engineering standards. Additionally, the engineer will produce and maintain accurate bills of material, which are crucial for the manufacturing process. This role is ideal for a candidate who possesses a Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and has a minimum of five years of relevant experience, particularly with tower support structures and agricultural applications. Familiarity with building codes related to agriculture, as well as knowledge of grain storage or bulk material handling, will be beneficial in this position. Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SDS2 and RISA is preferred, as these tools are essential for the design and modeling of the structures.
