Scientific Data Engineer

Remote – US-Based

Lawrence Harvey and SciPro are teamed up alongside an innovative technology company at the intersection of data engineering and life sciences, who are looking for a Scientific Data Engineer to join its growing team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about transforming scientific data into meaningful outcomes through scalable pipelines, domain-aware modeling, and collaborative problem-solving.

You'll work with scientific instruments, datasets, and analytics tools to drive insights that accelerate discovery and development in the life sciences. The company partners with top-tier cloud and AI platforms and is building next-generation solutions for the scientific community.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize data pipelines to ingest and process files from lab instrumentation (.xlsx, .txt, .raw, .fid, and various vendor-specific formats)
• Develop and test modular file parsers and utilities for scientific data normalization
• Design data models tailored to recurring experimental workflows or specific instrument types
• Create dashboards and visualizations using tools like Streamlit, Tableau, or Jupyter
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure solutions meet user needs and deliver clear value

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working with Python and SQL in a professional setting
• Background in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific discipline — either through academic training or hands-on experience in pharma/biotech
• Familiarity with scientific data use cases, lab workflows, and instrument output formats
• Strong analytical mindset and interest in emerging technologies, including AI and LLMs
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, self-starter approach to work
