Job DescriptionDivision/Department: Human Services - Dental Location: Min No Aya Win Human Services Center Reports To: Human Services Associate Director Probationary Period: 180 days FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried) Classification: Child-Related CA Driver's License: Level 0- No Driver's License is required. Rate of Pay: Depends on qualifications (DOQ) Responsibilities
  • Administrative and personnel management of all dental department staff. This includes annual performance appraisals, approving leave time, monitoring their work, ensuring proper coverage of duties when they are on leave, training for their duties, and any disciplinary actions necessary.
  • Maintain the dental clinic and operate according to standards of the American Dental Association, MN Board of Dentistry, and the Indian Health Service.
  • Practice by current infection control standards and provide annual training and competencies.
  • Follow occupational safety guidelines for dental office personnel. Provide annual OSHA training
  • Coordinate, participate in, and supervise prevention programs and activities and coordinate services with other Human Services Division departments.
  • Select dental supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Lead dental team meetings, dentist meetings, and assist the Dental Clinical Director
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Activities and provide reports to the CQI committee.
  • Monitor and approve employee leave and timecards.
  • Submit reports of program activity as designated.
  • Manage dental department budget.
  • Recruit new employees and participate on screening committee.
  • Provide orientation and training for new employees.
  • Provide and/or approve dental information for public release.
  • Select and monitor work from dental laboratories.
  • Update insurance program fees, codes and billing information.
  • Update Policy and Procedure Manuals as designated.
  • Abide by policies set forth by the FDL Band and Fond du Lac Human Services
  • Department uniform is required and provided to the employee, which must be worn during scheduled work hours unless prior arrangements have been made with management.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
  • Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • No Driver's License is required.
  • Minnesota Licensed Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
  • Demonstratable dental service management preferred.
  • 5 years of experience of personnel management required.
  • CPR, BLS or ACLS certification is required. If not certified at the time of hire, must be certified within 90 days of hire
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Knowledge of Native American communities, culture, customs, and beliefs is preferred.
  • Experience working with Native Americans clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation's Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
  • Subject to immunization review and submitted proof of required vaccinations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • All employees shall thoroughly wash hands and arms with soap and water before starting work and wash hands during work hours as often as may be required removing soil and contamination as well as after visiting the washroom.
  • Prolonged sitting, with some lifting and walking is required
