MUSC University Hospital is currently seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to become part of our dynamic and growing anesthesia team in Charleston, South Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, team-based environment alongside experienced CRNAs and board-certified anesthesiologists.

As a CRNA on our team, you will provide anesthesia care to a diverse adult patient population. You will administer anesthetics in consultation with anesthesiologists and in accordance with established standards of practice.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering safe, high-quality anesthesia care across a range of surgical procedures
  • Proficient operation of anesthesia machines and related equipment
  • Assisting with the safe transport and monitoring of patients
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records
  • Participating in department education, quality improvement, and training initiatives
  • Engaging in ongoing continuing education and professional development
  • Responding to emergency situations with resuscitative care as needed

Minimum Training, Education, and Experience:

  • Graduate of a program approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
  • The minimum education requirement for those hired after March 1, 2019, is a master s degree, or higher, with the concentration in Nurse Anesthesia.
  • Insurable by the medical malpractice insurer of MUSC for the required limits.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with surgeons, residents, anesthesia personnel, and nursing staff.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

  • Must be recognized as an APRN or be eligible, with a current license to practice, or eligibility to obtain practice in the state of South Carolina.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) require either a certification from an American Health Association (AHA) for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Provider.

About the position: The University Hospital operating area is the central receiving until within a level one academic trauma center.

  • Practice group of approximately 42 CRNAs
  • Variety of shifts available: 3 shifts of 13.5 hours per week; 24-hour shifts; 16-hour shifts; limited number of 11-hour shifts
  • Self-scheduling with a volunteer basis for weekends, holidays, and night coverage
  • 21 OR suites
  • Covers all surgical specialties: Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, Robotics and Burns
  • Interventional Radiology Suite
  • CT, MRI, Broch, Neuro-angio and interventional radiology on site.
