OVERVIEW: With a primary focus on winding responsibilities, the Manufacturing Technician/Winder performs an array of general production functions in the manufacture of Ideal products, including but not limited to, coil winding, assembly, press operation, and spot welding. This full-time role is based in Mansfield, Ohio, working closely with and reporting to, the Production Supervisor.IDEAL ELECTRIC CONFORMANCE STATEMENTIn the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the following:Represent the company with respect by conducting business in a professional and ethical manner Interact professionally and respectfully with customers, suppliers, and other employees Complete assigned work in compliance with policies and procedures, and within deadlines, with or without direct supervision; when required, record and maintain accurate records pertaining to work performed Apply job knowledge and safety and quality training in all aspects of workClosely adhere to safety and security standards and proceduresWork effectively as a team contributor and, work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizationsProvide world-class customer service and customer-facing skillsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Work from instructions, shop orders, drawings, charts, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and bills of materialsInsulate, cold press, and/or heat coils as required, wind and connect stators, armatures, and rotors Install collectors or commutators, making proper connections May be required to install equalizers, wire or bar woundInstall heat detectors and repair faulty heat detectors as requiredRemove coils and connections from wound statorsInterpret specifications and diagrams, inspect and clean slots, properly block and tape coil endsTin, solder, braze, clip, crimp, and assemble connections according to Engineering diagramsClean, form, plate and install bus bar and terminalsInstall lead cleats, and drill and tap as necessaryTest for continuity, shorts, grounds, resistance, drop, surge, and hi-potMay repair torn, broken, or cracked insulation on leads or coilsAssemble platforms for connectingObtain parts and supplies necessary for the work being performedAbility to operate soldering equipment, hand torch, ovens, induction heating equipment, bus bar formers, pedestal grinder, belt sander, cold presses, precision gages and measuring equipment, portable power tools, jigs, fixtures, jacks, marking machine, powered hoist, electrical testing equipment and hand tools, power press, hand and power shears, glass bead machine, and band saw. POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Technician - WinderDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIESHigh School Diploma or certified equivalentMinimum two years of experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment Ability to follow written and verbal instructionsAnalytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and exceptional attention to detailAbility to read and understand prints, use logic, and troubleshoot problemsTeamwork approach with excellent communication skillsExperience operating various manufacturing equipment, forklifts, and overhead cranes is helpfulExperience with large motors, generators, and rotating equipment is helpfulWORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURSDaily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum. Overtime as required, subject to production schedules and may vary based upon specific department and customer needs.
