$7,000.00 Sign-On BonusFacilityCape Fear Valley Medical CenterLocationFayetteville, North CarolinaDepartmentEmergency DepartmentJob FamilyProfessionalWork ShiftNights (United States of America)SummaryThe Paramedic Telecommunicator is a member of the CFV Transfer Center team who is responsible for the collection of pt.information and dispatching the appropriate mobile unit to facilitate the patient transport. Work also involves assisting the public with directions and general information. Work involves frequent public contact which requires tact, firmness and decisiveness in obtaining necessary information from people who may be under extreme stress. Work is performed in accordance with departmental policy and state and federal law. Work may be performed under stressful emergency conditions. Work is evaluated through observation, discussion and review of reports by the Telecommunications nurse manager through feedback from the Deputy Chief, Resource Supervisors, Crew members and Referral facilities served. The individual is required to obtain and accurately record all available billing information, including signatures, and to thoroughly and accurately document physicalfindings and treatment rendered on an electronic patient care record. The individual is further required to input ambulance communication for the Emergency Department and input records for same. The Paramedic telecommunicator is expected to assist in triage of calls to ensure the proper crew responds and to assist with additional shift duties as needed. Work load for the position is considered extremely demanding and the service sets specific performance requirements which must be met. The position maywork under the supervision of the CFV Transfer Center Manager and/or Deputy Chief.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major andminor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:•Receive routine and emergency telephone calls and personal request for assistance concerning home health, or general information concerning addresses and nature of problems•Operates equipment to maintain contact and to dispatch LifeLink crews to answer requests for assistance; receives and transmits information and messages•Operates equipment to maintain contact with various personnel including LifeLink teams in the field, physician request/referral line, wrecker services, highway patrol, and emergency management personnel•Maintains an in-house computer database and communication logs and reports including the nature of calls, actions taken and the times involved and generates reports for the same•Review incoming PCS and documents and consult with submitting personnel as necessary for correction•Receive and answer radio calls following the medical protocols and standard operating procedures set out by the department and the medical director•Attend required continuing education classes and trains on a regular basis to the satisfaction of the Systems Development Officer and Medical Director, by taking regular performance evaluations so that any deficits may be corrected immediately•Other duties as assignedPosition DescriptionMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of thisjob:Education and Formal Training:•High school graduate or equivalent required•Current certification in North Carolina as a Paramedic•Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR) as sponsored by the American Heart Association within 30 days from date ofhire•Completion of NIMS 100, 200, 700. All certifications must be maintained continuously while employedWork Experience:•1 year of field EMS/Rescue/Dispatch experience preferred•5 years of healthcare experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:•Thorough working knowledge of emergency medical procedures, equipment and supplies employed in pre-hospital care,and of communications equipment used•Thorough working knowledge of locations in North Carolina, Cumberland County and the cities and locations containedtherein, especially major streets and landmarks, and of Hospitals, rest homes, convalescence care centers, and nursinghomes•Ability to work calmly under extremely stressful conditions and follow established rules, procedures, and protocols.Required Licenses and CertificationsPARAMEDIC - NC Office Of Emergency Medical ServicesCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
