Summary: The Insulator/Metal Man shall possess the ability to insulate boilers and pipes and design, fabricate and install insulation blankets. The Insulator/Metal Man designs and installs all patterns of sheet metal for boilers and pipes and be able to erect and dismantle scaffolding. Must be familiar with a diverse group of insulation materials; fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate and ceramic fibers to name a few and handle materials in a safe manner.

Physical Requirements:
- Physically agile – able to lift 55 pounds of dead weight and carry it for 100 yards.
- Good hearing and able to communicate effectively.
- Not afraid of heights and or confined spaces.
- Able to work comfortably in dangerous work environments.
- Good balance, and good hand and eye coordination.
Requirements:
- At least 4 years' experience as an industrial insulator.
- Must process a safety-first attitude.
- Strong math and geometry skills.
- Knowledge of safety requirements when handling insulation materials and using insulation power tools.
- Able to understand spoken and written English effectively.
- Able to pass post offer illegal substance testing.
- NCCER certification is a big plus
Essential Functions
- Read blueprints to determine locations, positions, and dimensions of insulation.
- Remove old insultation and prepare pipes for installation of new materials.
- Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulation materials and protective materials as required.
- Cut, fabricate and install sheet metal around insulated pipes.
- Measure and cut insulation to manufacture insulation blankets using customer specified materials.
- Determine the amount and types of insulation needed, and method of installation with minimal waste.
- Remove or seal off old asbestos insulation following asbestos abatement safety procedures.
Physical Demands: Physically demanding job which requires lifting heavy objects, twisting, bending and reaching. Must be physically agile and able to work in confined spaces as well as high elevations.
