GENERAL SUMMARY

The Quality System Manager reports to the Director of Quality. The Production Quality Managers will be a dotted line to the Quality System Manager. This position is responsible for operation of the Quality Management System. Responsible for maintaining customer and NASG quality standards and policies, supporting the plant team to resolve concerns, driving corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvements, and development of engineering and technical staff within the Quality department. Lead commonality between the production quality departments at all locations. Ensure each production location is using common forms, systems and process within the scope of all quality steps and procedures. As well as lead teams and actions to improve the systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage process to evaluate current state and develop plan to support department training and development of engineers and technicians in problem solving, improvement tools and communication methods
  • Serve as customer liaison for major or key quality issues and represent NASG as required to resolve issues
  • Built and support Supplier Quality and Customer Quality relationships as well as visit schedule.
  • Monitor / report / improve all plant quality performance metrics – At a group summary level
  • Ensure standardization and maintenance of Control Plans, FMEA's, Flow Diagrams and In-Process Inspection documentation
  • Provide guidance to Production Quality Managers.
  • Oversee plant Corrective / Preventive Action process activities for timely and effective resolution – At a group summary level.
  • Participate in New Product Development as necessary
  • Participate in APQP process and ensure completion of plant APQP tasks – Support and drive APQP Meetings at a production level and ensure engagement of the Production Quality Team.
  • Participate in weekly production top 5 meetings and push accountability of production Quality groups.
  • Support Internal / External / Customer audits as required
  • Serve as Management Representative for plant QMS
  • Coordinate individual, team and plant improvement activities
  • Manage department budget – At a group summary level.
  • Monitor / report / improve all Production quality performance metrics – Generate and distribute KPI charts and reports – At a group summary level.
  • Establish and execute department strategy plan for year over year continuous improvement for key department metrics
  • Continually evaluate department processes for adherence while identifying and executing improvement to process design to improve department efficiency and effectiveness
  • In addition to performing primary duties, the individual shall provide support where deemed necessary by Management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in metrology, industrial, mechanical, electrical or electronics engineering

Experience:

  • 5 years manufacturing experience
  • 5 years supervision / management
  • 3 years in automotive manufacturing
  • 5 – 10 years cumulative in Quality functions

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • Master level understanding of Control Plans, FMEA's, Flow Diagrams and In-Process Inspection
  • Master level knowledge of GD&T, SPC, Gage R&R, and gage use
  • APQP, PPAP, MSA, Core Tools
  • Master level understanding of Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Detail oriented and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrate and model Hands-on, involved, Go-See approach
  • Highly organized
  • Strong Interpersonal communication skills
  • Will have the ability to work schedule that allows completion of the job on a daily basis

Language Skills:

  • Able to clearly communicate in verbal or written forms and act as a liaison between Production and Quality
  • Ability to speak and write in the primary language of the NASG facility of employment

Training:

  • Internal auditing
  • Automotive Core Tools
  • CMM operation
  • Fundamentals of IATF 16949

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Office: Open office environment

Plant: Various types of manufacturing environments that include but not limited to: Stamping, Welding, Assembly, Grinding, Wash, Receiving, Shipping, Sorting

Travel: Potential travel within Canada, Mexico and continental United States via automobile or plane, passport required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand and walk for up to 12 hours
  • Able to lift, carry, hold and manipulate loads up to 50 lbs
  • Dexterity to manipulate product onto gages or gages onto parts
  • Acceptable vision and hearing with or without appropriate prescribed aides
  • Able to work within environment that has temperature fluctuations
