The Position

Opportunity exists for an experienced Vice President of Media to lead the strategy, planning, and placement of all owned, bartered, and paid media across Versant brands. This role reports to the CMO of CNBC & MSNBC, and is also accountable to the CMO of Entertainment & Sports, and the CMO of SportsNext, Fandango, and Rotten Tomatoes.

This role will lead the team to deliver:

  • Brand Media Planning – all strategic planning, buying, and placement of paid and bartered media.
  • Performance marketing – Paid search, programmatic, social, and affiliate marketing to drive DTC businesses.
  • Scheduling: Planning and placement of all owned media across linear & digital.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive external media recommendations to fill any perceived gaps and unlock opportunities.
  • Align with brand marketing leads and business leaders to plan and place inventory that supports promotional priorities.
  • Plan and place all linear and digital promotional inventory across all cable brands, including MSNBC, CNBC, USA, E!, SyFy, Oxygen, and Golf.
  • Manage digital promotional assets for Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, and SportsNext.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external media agencies, setting direction, and approving strategies, placements, and executions.
  • Negotiate rates and placements for paid and bartered media, including makegoods.
  • Coordinate media placement across owned media channels to support promotional priorities.
  • Act as a key contact for marketing teams and senior Versant leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in fast-paced media or strategic planning roles.
  • Proven leadership in managing vendor and agency relationships, scope, budgets, and timelines.
  • Strong understanding of analytics, data, and partnerships to craft targeted messaging.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience across digital, social, mobile, and direct mail channels.
  • Ability to think abstractly, spot trends, and understand human behavior and creative processes.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
