Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. Job Summary:

Leads and executes the most difficult and unique purchasing projects. Reviews a wide range of purchase requisitions including capital and expense items or services; investigates and develops sources of supplies, prepares bid specifications; issues bid requests and reviews quotations. Interprets purchasing procedures for departments and vendors as a specialist in assigned material categories, requiring a high degree of technical knowledge based on sourcing category. Works with key stakeholders and legal to optimize value for Universal Destinations and Experiences. Responsible for timely placement of purchase orders, delivery of materials, and maintaining stock inventory levels within guidelines. Sources, evaluates, and purchases services, supplies, and equipment based on price, service, quality, and warranty. Collaborates with business partners to write specifications and develop timelines to maximize guest experience. Prepares bid forms, handles the RFX process, analyzes bids, and makes recommendations and awards contracts. Authorizes and processes purchase orders per company policies, considering total cost of ownership (TCO). Potential future leadership or supervision of Sourcing Specialists and support staff.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Researches sources/suppliers, provides alternatives, and assists requesters. Reviews requests, investigates bidding initiatives, and establishes blanket purchase agreements with vendors.
  • Facilitates the competitive bid process, organizes job walks, solicits bids, evaluates proposals, negotiates prices, and arranges deliveries in line with savings goals.
  • Develops new sources of supplies, updates records, secures favorable terms, and compiles metrics & KPIs.
  • Partners with Cost Control to ensure budget compliance and identify savings opportunities.
  • Leads initiatives related to company projects.
  • Resolves pricing discrepancies on purchase orders.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities following company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Master's degree preferred.
    Experience:
    • 5-7 years in Sourcing and Procurement of technical commodities, engineered systems, and services. Supervisory skills and construction experience are desirable.
    • Advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis.
    • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint for effective communication.
    • Experience with computerized purchasing systems required. Knowledge of suppliers and manufacturers, or equivalent experience, is necessary. Theme park or entertainment industry experience is a plus. Strong negotiation, communication, math, and analytical skills required.
