MISSION MANAGER, NSSL

The National Security Space Launch (NSSL) team at SpaceX leads the successful execution of partnerships and contracts with the US Government to launch national security missions. This team interfaces between Space Force customers and internal teams, manages government payload integration, maintains vehicle certification, and provides fleet insights to customers. Our work makes SpaceX the leading domestic provider for National Security Space missions.

As a Mission Manager, you will serve as the primary interface and contract owner between SpaceX leadership, technical teams, and external stakeholders, ensuring the successful launch and deployment of customer satellites. Responsibilities include managing contract requirements, payment milestones, technical analyses, compliance, hardware integration planning, and maintaining customer relationships. Team members are owners who excel in systems engineering, project management, proposal development, and mission execution.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and certify missions with stakeholders.
  • Maintain configuration control and coordinate engineering changes for flight configurations.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure mission success.
  • Create Interface Control Documents and verify payload requirements.
  • Present technical content on designs, risks, and issues.
  • Work with engineering and production to understand vehicle readiness and impacts of changes.
  • Coordinate customer reviews and ensure timely delivery of contract requirements, including payment milestones.
  • Serve as Mission Manager for major flight tests and milestones.
  • Influence programmatic and technical development to meet contract objectives.
  • Collaborate with mission operations and customers on integration and operations plans.
  • Support other activities like mission integration, launch operations, scheduling, and proposals.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or science with 5+ years of industry experience.
  • 5+ years of technical project management experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with hardware or software projects.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • 5+ years experience with government, NASA, or commercial launch contracts.
  • Experience with launch vehicles, spacecraft, or aerospace systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers.
  • Coding or automation skills (SQL, Python, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented, diligent, and customer-focused.
  • Passion for the space industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance is preferred.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and travel up to 25%.
Pay Range

Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 annually, plus benefits including stock options, bonuses, health coverage, 401(k), paid leave, and more.
