Job Purpose and Function

The Fuels Marketing Area Manager is responsible for managing an area of 40-50 properties where Wills Group, Inc. owns the real estate or has fuel supply agreements. Our goal is to help independent business owners offer industry-leading fuel experiences for our shared customers. This is achieved by developing strong relationships with operators and leveraging our experience or internal connections to help grow their fuel, merchandise, and auto bay businesses.

How You'll Make an Impact

The Fuels Marketing Area Manager develops relationships with independent operators and leverages cross-departmental collaboration to improve customer experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Drive volume growth, maintain an outstanding image, and manage finances effectively within the territory, classified under three trade classes: Open Dealers, Lessee Dealers, and Management Fee Operators.
  • Maintain a strong retailer network to maximize sales and ensure no stores are closed.
  • Provide excellent customer support to our retailer network, building relationships based on integrity, trust, and mutual respect.
  • Manage financial results, including expenses, capital, and performance metrics monthly.
  • Manage risks through company policies, including accounts receivable, credit issuance, and dealer prospect approval.
  • Communicate key programs and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Handle administrative functions such as damage claims, repair approvals, and paperwork in line with supervisor expectations.
  • Make decisions aligned with company philosophies, values, and strategic objectives.
Principle Accountabilities
  • Achieve annual operational goals for volume, income, expenses, and EVA.
  • Maintain location standards as per Shell's brand standards, aiming for a 95%-97% inspection score.
  • Ensure no bad debts and full collection of damage claims.
  • Ensure compliance with all TWGI programs and promotions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or 9+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years in retail industry, fuels experience preferred.
  • Experience in sales, account management, wholesale fuel, real estate, or retail leadership preferred.
  • Financial responsibility experience, including P&L management and business growth.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to travel within the region multiple days a week.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
  • Experience with retail and wholesale accounts and independent business owners.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, and Power BI.
  • Basic facilities maintenance knowledge.
  • Adaptability, results orientation, relationship building, problem analysis, and influence skills.
Work Environment and Travel
  • Core hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST.
  • Field-based role with about 4 days of travel per week, with expenses covered by the company.
  • Occasional travel outside the region or overnight stays may be required.
