Overview & Purpose:

Provide visionary leadership to management and influence future growth opportunities to achieve long-term performance goals & objectives (5 to 10 years). Responsible for executing the overall business plan and acting as a champion for strategic change across departments and community.

Primary Objective:

Strengthens the performance and supports the success of district schools by leading a team that provides strategic guidance and assistance for elementary or secondary education. Ensures the effective delivery of high-quality resources to educators, school leaders, and leadership teams to foster academic success and overall student well-being. Develops and implements strategic priorities for district schools, coordinates resources, and monitors progress to ensure targets are met. Manages coaching and oversight, working across different systems to ensure alignment, collaboration, support, and accountability.

Reports to the Deputy Superintendent. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work performed in the areas of responsibility and ensures compliance with District policy and practices and appropriate federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

**The Senior Executive Director must demonstrate a willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement. This role requires maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding all District matters, especially those involving the Superintendent, Chief of Staff, and the Board of Education. Ensuring trust and discretion is paramount to the success and integrity of this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic direction: create and support district vision, culture, and strategic roadmap, including developing policies, acting as a thought leader, and modeling continuous improvement.
  • Budget planning: develop, manage, and monitor budgets that support setting annual costs, and provide recommendations to ensure fiscal integrity.
  • Stakeholder relations: establish and cultivate effective working relationships with key district staff, governmental agencies, school districts, community groups, and other resources in support of district initiatives and to maximize visibility.
  • Corporate governance: ensure compliance with state and federal laws, Board of Education policies and regulations, maintain, and direct activities related to the District's safety and security efforts.
  • People effectiveness: develop strategies and frameworks to support continuous learning. Ultimately responsible for creating organizational capacities, building a diverse culture, and promoting equity.
Essential Functions:
  • Provides strategic leadership within the Office of Schools, working closely with departments across the district, such as Academics, Athletics, Activities, and Extended Learning, and Portfolio.
  • Oversees and mentors the School Collaboratives, ensuring alignment, consistency, partnership, and accountability across various systems.
  • Directs key operational functions to ensure students in district-managed schools receive the academic and holistic supports necessary to be college and career-ready.
  • Partners with district leaders to create and implement policies, practices, and services that address school needs, reduce disparities, and focus on fostering success for every student.
  • Designs and executes a comprehensive leadership development system for school leaders, while driving continuous improvements in strategies and services.
  • Serves as a representative of the office in schools and communities, advocating for a shared vision of equity and excellence, fostering a culture of inclusion, valuing diverse perspectives, and helping to drive district-wide priorities.
  • Assists district leadership in shaping the talent management strategy for regional networks, recruiting exceptional leaders, and building pathways for leadership development.
Qualifications:

Include licensure and certification requirements, if applicable.

Education:

  • Minimum: Master's Degree - Education or related field
  • Preferred: Doctorate - Education or related field

Experience:

  • Required: (10+) years of leadership experience within a school district.

Year of Management Responsibility:

  • Preferred: 10+
