Position Overview

The Director of Operations - Transitions/Task Force is responsible for ensuring hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction, and employee development, while maintaining hotel integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage front office operations, including training, scheduling, and daily duties.
  • Conduct daily tours of operating departments and make necessary adjustments with department heads.
  • Lead weekly staff meetings, including training sessions and review of sales and operations efforts.
  • Meet all financial review deadlines and corporate programs promptly.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors.
  • Ensure departmental productivity and adherence to Highgate standards and procedures.
  • Develop managers for future roles through training and corporate programs.
  • Participate in Management on Duty (MOD) coverage as scheduled.
  • Monitor management trainees' development and ensure policy compliance.
  • Assist in the hotel's budget process and ensure service standard training across departments.
  • Create a positive, team-oriented environment focused on guest satisfaction.
  • Regularly inspect rooms and physical property for cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Oversee invoice processing and financial document submissions.
  • Forecast financial performance monthly, analyzing data for accurate reforecasting.
  • Conduct management interviews and performance appraisals according to SOPs.
  • Motivate, coach, and discipline management staff following SOPs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.
  • Meet clients, greet guests, and support sales efforts.
  • Ensure guest interactions are friendly, courteous, and efficient.
  • Oversee safety and security procedures, including safe audits and credit policies.
  • Complete corporate training modules and obtain necessary certifications.
  • Supervise Food & Beverage operations, including budgeting, service quality, and compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in menu planning, procurement, and monitoring industry trends.
  • Coordinate Loss Prevention efforts and conduct regular meetings.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction and maintain high service standards.
  • Travel approximately 50% within the Eastern region for about a year or more.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive hotel or related experience; or a 4-year degree with 4-5 years of experience; or a 2-year degree with 5-6 years of experience.
  • Experience in Rooms division preferred.
  • Ability to work long hours as needed.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.
  • Maintain a warm, friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all employee levels and guests.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Participate in MOD coverage and attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain high personal grooming standards, including wearing nametags.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and SOP standards, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and data evaluation abilities.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.
