Job Summary
The Director Business Development is responsible for leading the pursuit of new business and expansion/renewal opportunities. They will coordinate the complete sales cycle, including lead generation, prospect qualification, and guiding cross-functional pursuit teams with clear strategies on deal structure, pricing, service offerings, and presentation messaging. The focus is on securing new sales contracts through team and solution selling, with a sales quota to be met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead deal pursuit: develop deal and pricing strategies, create proposal plans, prospect new brands, explore cross-sell opportunities, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
- Support ongoing commercial activities on closed accounts and explore additional cross-selling opportunities.
- Enhance vertical-specific knowledge for consultative selling.
Additional Responsibilities
- Focus on one vertical/business unit; work on other deals at the discretion of the sales leader.
- Understand and customize Ryder's solutions to meet customer needs.
- Transition new accounts to appropriate teams after 24 months.
- Propose a sales target of $120 million over five years.
- Achieve at least one cross-sell opportunity between SCS and DTS.
- Adhere to company policies, including travel and expense policies.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum five years of sales experience, with at least three years meeting quota and two years at 75% of quota.
- Experience in selling supply chain solutions and achieving quota multiple times.
- Strong understanding of services, costs, pricing, and value propositions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and meet deadlines.
- Driver's license class E required.

Compensation
Salary range: $125,000 - $165,000, plus potential bonuses and incentives.
