Job Description Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will focus on developing composite manufacturing processes related to Edison Works Advanced Programs. The primary responsibility involves collaborating with design engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable early in the development cycle. This role includes ownership of problem-solving activities such as PSRs, TOPS8D, and RCCAs concerning PMC/Ox-Ox, SiC/C, or C/C CVI ceramics systems. The engineer will champion the MRLs for these ceramics in the supply chain and internal shops and co-chair producibility reviews involving composite materials and coatings.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and improve materials, coatings, and processes for manufacturing and application.
  • Build expertise in own function, providing leadership and influencing policies within the organization.
  • Analyze business challenges and recommend best practices, particularly related to MRL and producibility.
  • Lead teams to find creative solutions for complex manufacturing processes, utilizing advanced techniques and cross-functional interaction.
  • Manage projects with moderate complexity and resource requirements, communicating effectively with leadership and external partners.
  • Apply should-cost methods to analyze and estimate manufacturing costs for cost-effectiveness.
  • Uphold safety and quality standards, promoting a lean culture through FLIGHT DECK practices.

This role is vital in bridging design and manufacturing, ensuring innovative designs are producible, cost-effective, and meet high quality and safety standards.

  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Quality standards
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or production engineering

  • Same as required qualifications, with additional experience in exotic alloys
