Chesapeake College invites applicants for a ten-month faculty Criminal Justice/Program Director position beginning January 2026. Position requires teaching courses in criminal justice online and in-person; overseeing curriculum development; assisting with program marketing, recruitment, and community outreach, and fostering partnerships with local law enforcement agencies and other criminal justice institutions. This position requires a dynamic educator with a passion for student success and program growth. Candidates may be expected to teach both day and night class, on the main campus at Wye Mills, at the Cambridge Center and in dedicated classes at high schools across our five-county service area as needed.Please note that this position is in the full-time faculty bargaining unit, which is represented by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Maryland.## Examples of DutiesCurriculum and Instruction

  • Facilitates classes as scheduled in the designated modality
  • Available for at least 5 student hours per week (outside of regular instruction) face-to-face or online
  • Prepares course documents (syllabi, CCOS, assessment plans, etc.) to include measurable SLOs and updates as necessary
  • Maintains a presence in the Learning Management System (LMS) as required by the college
  • Prepares and maintains course materials, textbooks, etc.
  • Submits reports in a timely manner (FTE, midterm and final course grades)
  • Collects and reports assessment data to the course lead in a timely manner
  • Participates in updating course assessment plan(s) as needed (SLOs, targets etc.)
  • Participates in the development of the action plan based on assessment data
  • Participates in course and/or program-level assessment, when applicable
  • Participates in course and/or program review, when applicable
Service to College and Community
  • Attends Commencement
  • Refer students to appropriate support resources, if needed
  • Provide a learning environment that supports student success
  • Participates in Student Advising as required by the college
  • Maintains on going communication with students to foster student retention and success
  • Faculty should maintain regular communication with students
  • Assists with recruiting students.
Shared Governance
  • Participates in Faculty Assembly
  • Participates in Departmental, Division, and In-Service Meetings
  • Participates in one annually assigned standing faculty or institutional committee designated by the President as fulfilling a faculty members committee assignment
Professional Development
  • Complete regulatory training as required
  • Maintains academic standards in keeping with the policies of the College as specified in the Faculty/Staff Manual and the Faculty Resource Guide
  • Maintains level of expertise in field or discipline as stipulated by COMAR
  • Attends Faculty Assembly meetings, Commencement, and In-Service sessions
  • Remains technologically current with institutional procedures and best practices
Note:Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor## QualificationsBachelors in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law, or a closely related field required. Masters strongly preferred. Five years of experience in law enforcement, criminal justice or closely related field. Knowledge of criminal justice policies, legal frameworks, and judicial process. Excellent co munication, leadership, and organizational skills. Experience with online learning platforms and instructional technology preferred. Strong preference given to candidates with teaching experience, particularly in a community college setting.Physical Requirements
  • Most of the job is sedentary, however, occasional periods of light work may be required;
  • Lifting up to approximately 35 lbs. occasionally.
  • The worker may be exposed to primarily to inside office conditions.
