Bookkeeper, Accounts Payable Salary to $60-70K plus bonus Benefits: PTO, 401K, Healthcare, vision and dental (highly subsidized) Onsite: M-F, 8:30-4:30 Our client, a privately-held, well-established company, is seeking a Bookkeeper who will be responsible for managing and directing the workflow of the Accounts Payable department to ensure the timely, accurate payment of invoices and monthly closing of the books. The Bookkeeper will report to the Controller and is responsible for maintaining and executing A/P policies and procedures, drives process improvements identified by the team, and ensures proper controls are in place.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the A/P department.
  • Identify and manage departmental process improvement initiatives.
  • Review expense reports for proper approval, coding, and compliance.
  • Oversee payment and reconciliation of corporate credit cards.
  • Review invoices and put procedures in place to ensure proper sales & use tax filings.
  • Prepare various account reconciliations and journal entries (including, but not limited to A/P accruals) for monthly and annual closings.
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures in accordance with company requirements, to include instructional details and development of the process.
  • Assist external auditors (financial, income tax, sales and use tax) by providing requested documents and reconciliations.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of IRS Form 1099-Misc. This includes maintenance of accurate records and documentation throughout the year to facilitate the annual reporting requirements.
  • Miscellaneous projects and analyses.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business related field or equivalent work experience is helpful but not required
  • 5+ years of Accounts Payable related experience
  • Ability to initiate and implement change
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented; strong analytical skills
  • Proficient with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment and also to work independently regarding responsibilities.
