About the Role

Deaconess Health System is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations across our Illinois Region. This executive leadership position plays a pivotal role in guiding financial strategy, ensuring fiscal sustainability, and supporting our mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate care. As a key member of our leadership team, the CFO will drive financial planning, optimize performance, and collaborate with regional and system-wide leaders to support strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Financial LeadershipDevelop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals. Provide actionable insights to support decision-making at the operational and strategic level.

  • Operational OversightManage financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis across all Illinois Region facilities.

  • Revenue Cycle ManagementCollaborate with system leaders to oversee billing, collections, and reimbursement performance for optimized revenue cycle outcomes.

  • Capital Planning & InvestmentSupport capital planning and financial modeling for new projects and service lines, in alignment with strategic growth initiatives.

  • Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure adherence to all regulatory standards and internal controls. Lead audit processes and risk mitigation efforts.

  • Team LeadershipLead and develop a high-performing finance team. Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • CollaborationWork closely with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders to align financial strategies with care delivery goals.

  • Financial Communication & ReportingDeliver clear, timely, and accurate financial reports to regional and system leadership, as well as the Board of Directors.

  • Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervise and mentor managers and teams. Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and performance management in accordance with organizational policies and laws.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field – Required

  • Master's degree in a related field – Preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in healthcare finance or a related area – Preferred

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
