Essential Job Duties

  • Oversight: Directly supervises vision services site leads, finishing lab coordinator, and vision services operations specialist. Also is responsible for their recruitment, retention, training, and performance standards. Provides broad oversight of other vision services support staff. Monitors all eye care operations to maintain compliance with established procedures, ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity are maintained. Responsible for disseminating information to designated program staff. (25%)
  • Site Coverage: Responsible for providing oversight or direct coverage in the absence of a site lead, finishing lab coordinator, or vision services operations specialist. In collaboration with the director of vision services, coordinate staff optometrist schedules in accordance with site needs and PTO/CME requests. (25%)
  • Department Liaison: Serves as the point of contact for other GLBHC departments for collaboration and intracompany support. Point of contact with other community programs/organizations. Collaborates with telehealth and mobile vision coordinator in activities related to patient recruitment. Actively looks for additional opportunities to address patient, company, and community needs. (20%)
  • Policies and Procedures: Works directly with the director of vision services to develop and implement new optometric initiatives; including but not limited to new services, site improvements, policy/procedure updates, and quality assurance of eye care personnel. (5%)
  • Productivity: Works directly with director of vision services and other department staff to ensure adequate provider productivity and optical capture rate. (10%)
  • Quality: Ensures department is effective in making a positive difference in patient's lives. Responsible for timely completion of patient satisfaction surveys. Assists or completes proficiency evaluations of opticians and optometric technicians. Ensures staff performing required training for vision care plans. Supports companywide initiatives for to meet quality measures. (5%)
  • Grants and Budgets: Assists with identifying department grant opportunities. Generates reports with appropriate support material and statistics required for grant applications and compliance. Coordinates with internal and external groups to assure success of each project. (5%)
  • Department Meetings: In coordination with site leads, responsible for monthly site meetings with support staff and optometrists. Assists the director of vision services with planning and minutes of department meetings. (5%)

  • Assigns duties to team members as needed for department success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by GLBHC administration or director of vision services.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associate degree or higher in health care administration or related field required. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
  • Licensure: Basic life support certification required.
  • Experience: Supervisory and optometric experience required, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position as listed above. Grant writing experience preferred.
  • Skills: Verbal and written communication to a diverse population. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to effectively handle multiple tasks with limited supervision. Proficient in Microsoft software. General understanding of optometric and ophthalmic terminology, procedures, and coding. Analytical ability to gather and summarize data in written reports, spreadsheets, and graphs. Demonstrate professional leadership ability and team building skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Understand and apply the GLBHC mission and ethics daily. Able to function individually and as a team member. Takes initiative in daily responsibilities. Consistent and fair approach with all staff members.
  • Physical Effort: Ability to consistently stand, sit, and walk throughout the entirety of a workday. Lift less than 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Hours: Full-time; flexible and varied. Evening hours may be required. Regular and timely attendance. Telecommuting may be an option on occasion for certain job duties.
  • Travel: Local travel between GLBHC sites with personal vehicle possible. If needed, reimbursement for reimbursement consistent with GLBHC policy and IRS guidelines.
