Position Description:
Pilot Drivers are responsible for providing safe Pilot services for situations such as oversized loads, considering speed, route, emergencies, and traffic conditions.
Pilot Drivers will communicate via two-way radios with truck and other pilot vehicle drivers to coordinate changes in speed and route, emergencies, or traffic congestion. They operate and drive vehicles equipped with warning lights and signs to pilot trucks hauling oversized loads of various types. They precede and maintain a specified distance between the pilot vehicle and the load to warn other motorists and clear traffic at locations. They drive in front of or behind the oversize load and inform the load driver, via CB radio, of any obstacles or concerns. They are prepared through research of permitted routes to guide the load safely. They perform traffic control duties as required by our customer. They maintain a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.
Applicants MUST:
1) Be 21 years or older.
2) Have a valid driver's license.
3) Have access to a cell phone.
4) Be able to read, write, and follow directions.
5) Be able to effectively communicate and work within a team environment.
6) Be able to work in all weather conditions.
7) Have a High School Diploma or GED.
