Qualifications:
•Earned doctorate in education or related field from an accredited institution.
•Prior graduate-level teaching experience required, with doctoral teaching and dissertation committee experience preferred.
•Expertise in qualitative/quantitative and/or mixed methods preferred.
•Prior university teaching and/or senior leadership experience at the K-12 level preferred.
•Commitment to professional and scholarly activity as demonstrated by an active research agenda that speaks to both practitioner and academic communities in rural, borderland and linguistically diverse contexts.
•Demonstration of collegial teamwork and desire to collaborate with colleagues to meet program and department needs.
Experience:
•Prior dissertation committee service required.
•Prior experience in chairing dissertation committees.
•Experience with online teaching (fully online or hybrid course models).
Preferred
We are seeking a candidate to complete our faculty team who has:
•Demonstrated familiarity with public K-12 education systems.
•Experience in areas related to school leadership and superintendency experience.
•Experience in higher education settings.
•Expertise in dissertation supervision and providing high-quality methodology training for doctoral students.
•A strong record of published qualitative and/or quantitative research.
•Knowledge and skills with research software and tools.
•Preference is for mixed-methods methodological experience, with particular expertise in qualitative research.
Primary Responsibilities
Description:
The Education Department invites applications for a 9-month Open Rank Faculty position, with a 12-month administrative appointment, with responsibilities in teaching and program coordination for the Ed.D. Program in Leadership. The Ed.D. program consists of two tracks: 1) Higher Education; 2) K-12 Leadership. This is a 60-credit, dissertation-embedded, cohort-based online program. We seek a creative and collaborative colleague with proven experience in doctoral-level teaching, dissertation supervision, and program leadership.
The Ed.D program is dedicated to developing leaders and scholars who serve rural, borderland, and linguistically diverse communities. Applicants' leadership styles and approaches should reflect a deep understanding of and commitment to these contexts, fostering inclusive practices that empower diverse educational environments.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching doctoral level leadership courses, K-12 focused and higher education courses, depending upon individual expertise; mentoring students; serving on dissertation committees; chairing dissertation committees; and maintaining a professional research agenda and contribute to scholarship. In addition, all faculty are expected to engage with K-12 partners and prospective students, upon request; contribute to ongoing program improvement efforts; recruitment, overseeing field experiences for superintendent candidates, and participate in committee service at the program, School, and/or University level, as well as to the broader professional community.
The candidate will essentially run both tracks of the program and must possess excellent organizational and project management skills. They will also work very closely with the department chair and the director of certification on matters related to the superintendent certification track to ensure program success.
Full-time faculty, 9-month appointment with a 12-month administrative appointment. The typical workload includes teaching, program coordination, scholarly activity, service, student advising and mentorship, and School and/or University committee assignments
