The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient processing of accounting-related information, familiar with standard operating procedures related to Human Resources and Loss Prevention, as well as house rules, according to Aimbridge Hospitality standards. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to complete their responsibilities; for OEM associates, overtime applies and is calculated accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree with at least 3 years of related experience; or, a Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year of related experience; or, at least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Proficient in Windows operating systems; ability to manipulate and troubleshoot spreadsheets, type memos and reports, and handle basic PC problems.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well under stress and high-pressure situations.
  • Problem-solving skills, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving workplace issues.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adjust accordingly.
  • Good listening skills; ability to understand, clarify, and resolve concerns of co-workers and guests.
  • Ability to work with and understand financial data and perform basic arithmetic functions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards, with scheduling based on hotel needs.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including compliance with dress code and wearing name tags.
  • Approach all guest and employee interactions with attentiveness, friendliness, courtesy, and a service-oriented attitude.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Comply with all Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Understand the organization of Aimbridge Hospitality Hotels and the function of each department.
  • Oversee duties of the General Cashier, including daily reconciliation of various deposits.
  • Oversee and maintain the over/short log and controls for all cashier banks.
  • Post all city ledger payments daily and prepare all bank deposits and related documentation.
  • Manage billing of accounts receivable daily, with detailed knowledge of hotel receivables and credit policies.
  • Maintain a card file trace system for AR collection calls as per SOP.
  • Conduct bi-monthly credit meetings with the General Manager.
  • Keep records of approved direct billing accounts and process returned checks and chargebacks.
  • Perform monthly accounts receivable balancing and maintain special accounts and petty cash funds.
  • Voucher invoices using Purchase Order and Checkbook procedures.
  • Ensure all hotel invoices are submitted weekly to Corporate Accounts Payable.
  • Perform daily income audits, reconcile credit cards, and prepare monthly reports.
  • Oversee training of Night Auditors and monitor their accounting responsibilities.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, ensure employee paperwork is processed timely, and compute worked hours.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and operate hotel systems according to standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
