Summary

The Service Quality Connected Engineering department ensures rapid resolution of quality issues through collaboration with Subaru of America (SOA), Subaru Corporation (SBR), Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), and suppliers. The Manager oversees investigation and resolution of infotainment and connected car quality issues for vehicles sold in North America, managing a team of specialists to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Connected Vehicle Quality Software for InCar/OutCar and OTA.

Major Responsibilities
  • Quality Issue Management: Lead investigations into infotainment and connected vehicle quality issues, determine root causes, and develop action plans.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and guide a team of specialists, manage workload, and support training and development.
  • Coordination with Stakeholders: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including FAST, SIA, SOA, TMNA, and suppliers to address issues and ensure timely resolutions.
  • Information Gathering & Reporting: Collect and analyze data, prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Investigation Process Management: Oversee investigation timelines, involve appropriate personnel, and ensure follow-up actions.
  • Prioritization & Decision Making: Prioritize issues based on severity and impact, manage investigations efficiently.
  • Quality Improvement Recommendations: Provide insights for product quality improvements and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Ensure effective communication with management and technical teams, reporting progress and issues.
    • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market changes to enhance investigative processes.
    • Plan and organize retailer visits and quality meetings, including international trips.
    • Coordinate with NASI and SOA teams for OTA software launches.
    Required Skills & Personal Qualifications
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
    • Strong knowledge of head unit software, Data Communication Models (DCM), and connected services.
    • Effective cross-cultural communication skills.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Experience leading teams.
    • Ability to interact with Japanese counterparts and adapt to Japanese business practices.
    • Understanding of Subaru's quality resolution and development processes.
    • Experience managing software development processes.
    • Active Driver's License for vehicle testing.
    Education & Experience

    Bachelor's degree and 6-8 years of relevant experience; relevant experience can substitute for degree.

    Work Environment
    • Hybrid role: Remote work 2 days/week after onboarding.
    • Travel required: 10%.
    • Physical demands include lifting up to 20 lbs.
    • Work settings include office and remote environments, with prolonged sitting.
    Compensation

    Base salary range: $92,100 - $130,000/year, determined by skills and experience. Subaru offers comprehensive benefits including health plans, 401K matching, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, vehicle discounts, and more.
