Summary

This position is responsible for implementing corporate, field, and office ESH policies and procedures in assigned business units and/or project sites.

Duties
  • Champion The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Ensure Constructing with Integrity by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
  • Assist in establishing a safety culture with Layton and Subcontractor employees on the assigned project.
  • Manage safety programs on all assigned projects, including Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) or other complex risk management projects.
  • Provide regulatory and policy review, interpretation, and technical advice.
  • Recommend improvements and review ESH tools, processes, policies, and training.
  • Review leading indicators from audits, observations, and injury statistics to propose programs that lower risks. Share data with safety leadership to develop trends.
  • Monitor new legislation affecting safety policies and procedures, proposing necessary changes.
  • Monitor workers' compensation issues on assigned projects.
  • Conduct incident review meetings with relevant personnel to debrief and train on accident prevention.
  • Oversee monthly audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness of safety programs.
  • Implement training programs to achieve Safety 360 results and ensure OSHA/MSHA compliance.
  • Participate in pre-construction safety planning for assigned projects.
  • Ensure accurate and prompt accident reporting and implement prevention measures.
  • Assist with injury management to ensure medical care and control costs.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs on assigned projects.
  • Supervise safe behavior of all workers on site.
  • Interface with SBU leaders, craft personnel, supervision, and subcontractors to manage ESH issues efficiently.
  • Interface with government agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and MSHA.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety & Health or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Excellent knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
    • 5+ years of construction environment experience.
    • CHST certification preferred.
    • ASP and CSP certifications preferred.
    • ICRA certification preferred.
    • Previous CCIP experience preferred.
    • Basic Spanish communication skills preferred.
    • Understanding of industrial hygiene principles.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technology tools.
    • Problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills and team development abilities.
