Overview
The Purchasing Head of Department (HOD) is responsible for developing the annual business plan in alignment with the policies of the Korean headquarters, tracking and controlling production parts inventory, setting KPIs, and achieving ongoing cost reductions. Additionally, the HOD is responsible for establishing supplier agreements and reviewing month-end closing documents. The Purchasing HOD sets expectations for direct reports and manages the annual MBO job performance system.
Responsibilities
- Tracks all inventory, shortages/downtime, KPIs, and cost reductions
- Responsible for release of purchase orders for assembling sub-component parts
- Control, monitor, and track the inventory level KPIs
- Responsible for review of monthly closing and all supporting documentation supplied by managers
- Maintain constant contact with suppliers for outsourcing and supplier agreements
- Evaluate team member performance based on the annual MBO goals
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures and policies for the purchasing department
- Establish job-related performance goals and expectations for salaried subordinates, providing constructive feedback during mid-year and end-of-year reviews
- Manage the purchasing process for raw materials
- Manage the purchase of assembly sub parts such as air bags, sensors, etc.
- Reconcile and manage local parts received with parts consumed through the Electronic Receipt System (ERS)
- Evaluate and monitor Engineering Orders (EO) to manage local part changes
- Manage the build-out part process at the beginning of each month and during model changes to avoid having obsolete parts
- Review SAP T-codes to summarize and collect local parts data
- Coordinate with local parts suppliers to improve the management of part racks, shipping expectations, and shortage issues
- Evaluate Goods Received (GR) compared to goods on hand to avoid obsolete parts
- Track daily and weekly Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs) to ensure that parts are received on time
- Report new model (event parts) to the Head of Department (HOD) at least one week prior to each new model event
- Comply with and promote safety in the workplace, including attendance at safety meetings and conducting safety meetings when necessary

Qualifications
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
- At least 10 years of purchasing and logistics experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least 10 years of supervisory and management experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to evaluate and manage purchasing and logistics requirements
- Proven ability to set clear work expectations and manage team member work performance
- Proven ability to manage time-sensitive projects
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
- Written and verbal communication in Korean
- List preferred education and experience, then list skills that will be learned on the job
