What is this job? The Intake Specialist Ensure the wellness youth and families through supportive, direct childcare services and ensuring a safe, secure, and calm environment. The Intake Specialist works as a vital member of the care team to act as a mentor, coach, and support to those in a direct care position. The Intake Specialist works closely with Program Administrators and Unit Supervisors to prepare for and complete Intake procedure for all youth new to the program. Benefits

  • Model and act in accordance with everstand's core values of safety, relationships, empathy, and impact.
  • Acts as the designated point of contact for new intakes entering Everstand Caminos program. Some example activities include:
    • ensuring completion of steps to prepare the unit to receive new intakes
    • greeting new intakes upon arrival, providing each youth with a warm welcome to the program in Spanish
    • processing the admission of the youth in a web-based software portal
    • securing belongings of the new arrivals for Care Team staff to process and inventory.
  • Assists with the preparation and coordination of resident discharges by:
    • Completing required discharge documentation
    • Reviewing required documentation with the resident
    • Processing the discharge of the resident from the web-based software portal
    • Generating portal discharge documentation including the Verification of Release form.
During periods where there are no active admissions or discharges, this role would support other staff within the living unit.
  • In collaboration with the unit supervisor and therapist, participates in the development and facilitation of weekly life skills and acculturation groups.
    • This role provides support to the direct care staff to teach and maintain an environment that supports the acquisition of life skills, including; health, hygiene, money management, etc.
    • Encourage direct care staff to identify subjects for these group sessions.
    • Help support the direct care staff in understanding that setting limits and offering a fair and reasonable consequence for unsafebehavior is central to establishing the treatment environment and avoiding power struggles for non-safety issues.
  • Document daily activities and happenings in the living unit within BCC's electronic health record system
  • Help implement each child's treatment plan (every child at Everstand has one - it's a list of goals they're working on while they're at Everstand).
  • Coach kids on cleanliness and orderliness in their personal hygiene, living unit and the surrounding campus.
  • Link the kids to the health suite (on grounds) if they need anything.
  • Accompany the kids as they attend school (on grounds). Encourage them to practice what they're learning.
  • Provides safe transportation (in Everstand vehicles) to scheduled appointments.
  • Conduct inventories for resident belongings upon admission, discharge and on a quarterly basis.
  • Engage the kids in whatever is on the living unit's schedule. Play games, facilitate getting calls set up to their home country or other stakeholders, and generally help ease their transition to living in the United States.
  • Ensure the kids are dressed in weather and activity-appropriate clothing (winter and cooler temperatures are new concepts for them). During the summer months, you'll watch them laugh and play on the soccer field or play games on campus. During the winter months you will cherish watching their faces as they play in snow for the first time. It is truly awesome.
  • Prepare and enjoy meals together as a living unit. Sometimes you'll pick up meals already prepared from the dining hall (on grounds), other times the living unit will cook together.
Generally, as a part of the team you will
  • Rotate in the on-call coverage schedule.
  • Foster an atmosphere of collaborative problem-solving among residents and co-workers.
What shifts would I work? Are full time positions available? This is a full-time 40 Hrs. position. FE- Sun: 9:00 am-10:30 pm Mon, Tues 2:30 pm-10:30 pm,Wed,12:00 pm - 10:30 pm. BE-Wed,12:00 pm - 10:30 pm Thurs, Fri 2:30pm- 10:30 Sat: 9:00am- 10:30pm. Shift information is received from the Unit Supervisor. This position is essential during snow emergencies. What experience and education do I need?Required Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalency plus 3 years of working with youth in a social service setting.
  • OR
  • Bachelor's degree plus 1 year of working with youth in social service setting.
