Job Purpose: Assist the Maintenance and Safety Manager with vendor relations, RJW Transport contract mechanics, and maintaining warehouse equipment and premises, including forklifts, building maintenance, and housekeeping. Report to the Facilities Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee maintenance activities across facilities.
- Maintain attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Provide excellent customer service, managing difficult situations effectively.
- Communicate professionally in verbal and written forms.
- Read, write, and communicate in English.
- Have basic computer skills.
- Work independently and be on-call for emergencies.
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Coordinate forklift maintenance and repairs.
- Supervise maintenance staff across multiple buildings and evaluate performance.
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Train staff on safety procedures at various facilities.
- Assess damages and report to facility managers for follow-up.
- Handle routine maintenance tasks independently.
- Promote safety across all facilities and maintain logs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years in maintenance, food safety awareness, mechanical work, and appliance repairs.
- Ability to travel between RJW locations.
- Safety and forklift training required.
- Knowledge of AIB and Organic audits, OSHA standards.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in training material handlers and using power tools.
- Leadership experience with janitorial/housekeeping staff.
