Position: Major Gifts Officer

Responsible for development and management of a major gifts portfolio within assigned territory developed through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of effective relationships with volunteers, board members, corporate leaders, foundations, current and prospective donors. Through effective portfolio management, qualifies and secures funding from donors capable of giving $10k+ and ensures donor retention and upgrade strategies are successfully executed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build relationships with volunteers, board members, corporate representatives, foundations, and current and prospective donors to qualify and build a caseload of donors.
  • Manage a portfolio of 125 -- 150 donors.
  • Create and execute a moves management plan for each qualified donor in the portfolio. Collaborate with market leadership, program, and communications teams to secure project information, including budgets and content, for proposals and solicitations.
  • Create and submit monthly activity and performance reports to management.
  • Secure a minimum of $750,000 - 1,300,000+ in major gifts in the first year.
  • Submit at least 24 proposals to individuals, corporations, and foundations as part of a balanced fundraising portfolio.
  • Support the development of campaign packaging, pricing, and lead gifts for field staff proposals.
  • Coordinate stewardship of $10k+ donors, partnering with stewardship advisors.
  • Support nationwide solicitation efforts for corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Collaborate with various departments to achieve regional goals and participate in regional and enterprise projects and committees.
QUALIFICATIONS

Formal Knowledge: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of proven experience securing $100,000+ gifts or equivalent.

Other Skills: Excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, successful track record with large gifts, strong relationship-building ability, financial acumen, and ambassadorial skills.

Specialized Knowledge: Experience with planned giving software preferred.

Work Demands: Some travel required.
