Position Title: Visiting Faculty, Civil & Environmental Engineering

Reports to: Chairperson of Civil & Environmental Engineering Department

Position Summary:

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Manhattan University is the largest academic department in the University and home to the largest Civil Engineering undergraduate program in New York City. The department offers graduate (Masters) degree programs in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering. The faculty members of the department possess expertise in a wide range of fields and have strong ties to the civil, environmental, and construction industries in the region.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Manhattan University invites applications for a visiting faculty position, specializing in Transportation Engineering. This non-tenure track position will be filled at the Lecturer, Assistant, or Associate level commencing Fall 2025. Candidates with expertise within all areas of Transportation Engineering are encouraged to apply especially those with a background in traffic operations, transportation materials, urban transportation planning, safety and ITS, multimodal systems, or AI/ML applications to transportation data analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Transportation Engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) levels.
  • All applicants are expected to have the necessary background to teach introductory civil engineering courses.
  • Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have an undergraduate degree and a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A master's degree and relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of a doctorate for the visiting lecturer position.
  • Applicants must be qualified to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) levels.
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in specialty areas within Transportation Engineering.
  • A professional engineering license (or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time) is requested.
  • Candidates will be evaluated on their academic background, professional experience, communication skills, and potential for excellence in teaching.
